Tracking Appointments In LeaveWizard

LeaveWizard can be used to track appointments as well as leave and absence. Appointments, such as training or meetings, can be considered as a leave event that is not allowanced and does not require approval. They would also be excluded from restrictions that limit the maximum number of users off or which users are off at the same time. The event would then show on LeaveWizard and on external calendars, if configured, so that other users would be aware of user availability.

An administrator can create or modify an existing event type to do this on the Event Types And Allowances page which can be accessed from the ‘Configuration’ option on the main menu.

To create a new event type click the ‘New’ button on the sub menu. If you want to edit an existing one, then highlight the leave type you want to edit on the left hand side of the page and then click the ‘Edit’ button on the sub menu.

In the ‘Event Type Details section’ it is important to set ‘Type of event’ to ‘Non-allowanced Leave’ which is a suitable type for appointments. Then navigate to the ‘Restrictions’ section and tick ‘Exclude events of this type from restrictions’.

These are the basic settings needed to create an appointment type. You may also want to make changes to other settings for this event type. If you do, then please refer to the Event types in depth article for more information.

When your new ‘Appointments’ type is created, users can then request events of this type which can be displayed on calendars. As an example, a user could create an event ‘Working From Home’ to let colleagues know they will be working remotely on certain days.

You can also control who can request this type of event with Request restrictions.
