Why Do User Allowances Look Wrong?

If user allowances look wrong, then you should check LeaveWizard settings to find out why. Many factors can cause recalculations of allowances by the system and for the values to change. The most obvious are changes to three settings on their employee details page.

Employee Details Settings

These settings are all on the allowances & work pattern tab of the employee details page.

Employment Start Date

If you change this date so the user works a partial leave year, it will reduce their allowance this year.

Employment End Date

If you change this date so the user works a partial leave year, it will reduce their allowance this year. Also, the system will ignore any leave requests that fall after the end date and will add back the days or hours onto their remaining allowance.

Allowance Resets On

If you change the user leave year start date, it will change which requests fall within their current leave year. This may change their remaining allowance.

Other Settings

Changes to work patterns and public holidays can also change user allowances.

Work Patterns

If you change a user’s work pattern, the system will recalculate their annual allowance. The allowance is based on a comparison between the days worked on the company default work pattern and the work pattern assigned to the user. The system will also recalculate unexpired request durations. This may change the user’s remaining allowance.

Public Holidays

If you change public holidays for the current year, the system will recalculate the duration of requested events. If the durations change, then the remaining allowance will change. Also, if you change the setting of ‘Include in the allowance of’ for a public holiday event type, it may change the user’s remaining allowance.

This is not an exhaustive list. However, if after checking these, you still cannot see why a user allowance is as shown on the app, please contact LeaveWizard support. They will check your data on a test system and advise accordingly.
