How Do I Change The Event Type Selected By Default When Requesting Leave?

When users make requests they need to choose an event type from a drop down list. By default, the first event type alphabetically is displayed. This may not always be the most convenient choice as most requests made by users are for the primary holiday type.

For example, if you have a leave type named ‘Family Leave’ and your holiday leave type is named ‘Holiday’, it is ‘Family Leave’ that will be displayed first and the user will need to select ‘Holiday’ from the drop down menu.

If you would like ‘Holiday’ to always be displayed as the first option, then you can set ‘Order in Lists’ for that event type to ‘Top of list’ which will ensure it will be displayed first.

To make this change go to the main menu, select Configuration and the Event types and Allowances option which will take you to the Event types and Allowances page. Highlight the event type you want to be displayed first by clicking it’s displayed name.

Then either click the ‘Edit’ button on the sub menu or right click the event type name to get a pop-up menu and select the ‘Edit…’ option. In the Event Type Details section, select ‘Top of list’ from the drop down for the ‘Order in Lists’ setting.

As you will notice, this will also conveniently re-orders the event type display order on the Event types and Allowances page as well.
