How Do I Change The Default Event Type Used When Requesting Leave?

You can change the default event type used when requesting leave to any of your leave types. When users make requests, they need to choose an event type from a dropdown list. By default, it displays the first event type alphabetically. This may not always be the most convenient choice, as most requests made by users are for the primary holiday type.

For example, if you have a leave type named ‘Family Leave’ and you have named your holiday leave type ‘Holiday’. Then it will display the ‘Family Leave’ first and the user will need to select ‘Holiday’ from the dropdown menu.

If you would like it to always display ‘Holiday’ as the first option, then you can set ‘Order in Lists’ for that event type to ‘Top of list’. This will ensure it will display ‘Holiday’ first.

To make this change, go to the Event types and Allowances page. On the main menu, select Configuration and then choose the Event types and Allowances option. Highlight the event type you want to be displayed first by clicking its displayed name.

Then either click the ‘Edit’ button on the submenu or right click the event type name to get a pop-up menu and select the ‘Edit…’ option. In the Event Type Details section, select ‘Top of list’ from the dropdown for the ‘Order in Lists’ setting.

You will notice this will also conveniently re-orders the event type display order on the Event types and Allowances page as well.
